JUNE 27 – TASSI RANCH, GRAND CANYON -PARASHANT NATIONAL MONUMENT

North of the Grand Canyon in the Mojave Desert lies Tassi Ranch, approximately 200 acres of creosote bush ranchland in Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument. Today, the remnants of the early twentieth century ranch can be found under the shade of an oasis of cottonwood trees, fed by the Tassi Springs near the center of the ranchland. The adaptations the ranchers undertook as they worked to establish agriculture in an extreme, remote desert are still visible in the landscape today. High clearance vehicles are required for this field trip.
