MT. LOGAN WILDERNESS AREA, AZ

The October field trip will take us to the southern edge of the Arizona Strip and the Mt Logan Wilderness area located in the Grand-Canyon Parashant National Monument. Mt Logan has an interesting history of volcanic activity that includes basalt ledges, cinder cones, ponderosa pine forests, pinyon-juniper woodlands and a large, colorful, naturally eroded amphitheater known as “Hells Hole”. As we visit the area keep an eye out for deer, turkey and the infamous “Kaibab” squirrels.
